Ron Fream
Executive Director/Founding Principal

In 1966, armed with a degree in Ornamental Horticulture (with additional emphases in Botanical Science, Soil Science, Turfgrass Management, Ecology and Landscape Design), Ron began his career as a golf course architect at Robert Trent Jones Inc.

Ron opened the doors of Golfplan in 1972, after honing his skills designing national and international courses. Now, with over 40 years of golf course architectural experience in over 65 countries, he provides strong direction in conceptual planning, golf course design, construction supervision and turfgrass management.

Between 1972 and 1978, Ron collaborated with five-time British Open champion Peter Thomson and Michael Wolveridge of Australia and John Harris of London providing worldwide golf architectural services.

Ron is a frequent contributor to technical golf publications and other golfing magazines. He has authored more than 100 articles on various and diverse aspects of golf course economics, safety, planning and design, golf feasibility, construction, ornamental horticulture and turfgrass maintenance.

David M. Dale, ASGCA
Principal

David joined Golfplan in 1988 with a degree in Landscape Architecture from Washington State University. His responsibilities include site evaluations, golf course land use planning, golf course architecture, design development, preparation of working drawings, construction inspections and liaison with real estate and resort planning firms and municipal agencies. He also provides oversight of working drawing preparation and coordinates with other project engineering and design firms. He has participated in site evaluation and construction inspection in more than 15 countries.

David is a member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA); the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) and an associate member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA).

Growing up in Montana, his passion for golf drew him to a career in Golf Course Architecture. He resides with his family in the wine country of Northern California near a local Golfplan-designed golf course. It was on this course where David introduced his then 18-month-old son to the game while walking the holes during construction.

Kevin M. Ramsey, ASLA
Principal

Kevin’s golf course architecture career began in 1988 even before he completed his Landscape Architecture degree from the University of California, Davis. He joined Golfplan in 1999 as a Senior Golf Course Architect. Today, Kevin’s responsibilities include site evaluation, golf course land use planning, golf design, design development, preparation of working drawings, construction inspection and liaison with real estate and resort planning firms and municipal agencies. He also oversees working drawing preparation and coordinates with other project engineering and design firms.

Kevin is an associate member of the Golf Course Superintendents of America (GCSAA), the Northern California Golf Association (NCGA), and the United States Golf Association (USGA).

While growing up in Chicago, seven-year-old Kevin learned the game from his parents.  He went on to play collegiate golf for the University of California at Davis, competing in the NCAA Division II National Championships in 1987 and 1988.  He still maintains a single digit handicap. Kevin lives in Marin County, California with his wife and young daughter.
